Sadzi CCAP family union in Zomba says intimacy between couples is the cornerstone of a happy marriage life.

Members of the union made the observation recently during a two-day couples retreat in Mangochi where they spent time discussing the beauty of marriage.

Speaking after the retreat, the Reverend Maxwell Songola, said that God’s design for marriage was to make families agents of socio –economic development.

He, however, observed that this divine purpose remained a far-fetched dream since most families today have turned into hell on earth.

Songola said most marriages are in a shambles due to lack intimacy emanating from cultural, physical, economic, social and religious differences.

“Intimacy is the cornerstone of successful marriages. The secret to achieving this is for partners to humble themselves in learning about their spouses and respect them,” he said.

Songola added that openness is another charm that fosters intimacy in marriage.
