Head of the church Bishop Paul Bvumbwe commended Selengo for being the youngest of the nine deans in the country and said his enthronement was symbolic of the youth’s participation in church leadership.

“The new dean is also national adviser for the youth committee. It shows we pay attention to the wishes, aspirations and abilities of the youth to achieve their potential,” he said.

Selengo takes charge of the faithful and reverends throughout the deanery such as Rumphi, Mzimba and Nkhata Bay.

He said he was ready for the new role.

“This is a very big day in my ministry. I believe the new responsibility is part of my calling and the Lord calls his servants irrespective of age, origins or qualifications,” he said.

Selengo was ordained as reverend on October 30 2005. He has served at Lake Chilwa Parish in Zomba, Madisi in Dowa, Lilongwe Cathedral and Mzuzu.
