Super League of Malawi (Sulom) vice-president Daud Suleman is set to go unopposed for the FAM executive member position as all the association’s affiliates have nominated him.

High Court Judge Dingiswayo Madise, who is FAM electoral committee chairperson, at the weekend confirmed through MIJ Radio that Suleman is the only nominee for the polls set for January 24.

“We met as a committee to look at the names and, I can confirm that all the affiliates have nominated Mr. Suleman.

Suleman: I am humbled

“However, one of the requirements is that he should have an MSCE [Malawi School Certificate of Education] or its equivalent and he stated that he has a masters in communication and IT. So, we have given him up to Monday [today] to present a copy and we are optimistic that he will submit it,” said Madise.

Suleman said in an interview yesterday that he felt humbled that all the affiliates had nominated him.

“It shows the level of confidence that affiliates have in me, but the most important thing will be to serve local football to the best of my ability,” he said.

Sulom general secretary Williams Banda said the vacancy to be created by Suleman’s imminent departure “shall be filled in line with Sulom statutes”. n
