Moyale Barracks are among the three contenders for the  TNM Super League title, but they are not on the sponsor’s plan for symbolic trophy presentation as the 2013/14 season winds up this weekend.

TNM head of marketing Sobhuza Ngwenya told The Nation yesterday that Sulom has advised them to arrange only two trophies for games involving the other two contenders Silver Strikers and Mafco FC.

Moyale, who are third on the log table with 47 points could win the title if they win their final game against Mzuzu United and if Silver Strikers and Mafco lose their games against Mighty Wanderers and Civo United respectively on Saturday.

Silver are at the summit of the table with 50 points whereas Mafco are second on 48 points. Moyale and Silver have the same goal difference of 21.

“For now, Sulom has directed us to prepare only two trophies for games involving Silver and Mafco,” said Ngwenya.

But when reminded that Moyale are also on the title chase, Ngwenya said: “Then, we’ll have to liaise with Sulom.”

Ngwenya admitted that the Moyale game is indeed also critical and it gives them food for thought.

“We will look at it,” he said.

However, Sulom general secretary Williams Banda contradicted Ngwenya, saying his body is not involved in the arrangement of the trophies.

“But I presume that they will organise three trophies since three teams have realistic chances to win the title,” said Banda.

Soccer commentator Charles Nyirenda said it will not be fair to arrange only two symbolic trophies.

“It will look like a prearranged programme that its either Silver or Mafco that will win the title when, in fact, all the three teams are in contention. Moyale are being viewed as a prodigal child,” he said.

Otherwise, Ngwenya said all is set for the grand finale.

“We have prepared some activities and we will storm townships to mobilise people and give them a few items as we direct them to the stadiums,” said Ngwenya
