Women from all walks of life shared business tips at an interactive dinner and dance organised by Sunbird Lilongwe Hotel.

It was the first of its kind of a ladies night as it was solely organised to give women an opportunity to get together, network and share business ideas.

It was a clear mixture of business and pleasure as apart from letting loose and have a good time while being treated to the best food that Sunbird Lilongwe Hotel offered with beautiful music on the background, a number of women running different businesses shared tips on how they have managed to remain strong on the competitive market.

“I started my business in the late 80s as a vegetable seller. I used to move from NRC with a basked of vegetables to town and would at times spend a day without making not event a penny. But I remained strong, I persevered and worked hard. Right now, I own a clothing shop in Lilongwe,” said Helalo’s Fashion house owner, Eve Chikhadzula.

Other than that, the women also made pledges through Habitat for Humanity Malawi Women’s Build Initiative, which is soliciting funds to build houses for widows. For the night, the women made pledges for the construction of a K1.6 million house for Dorifa Chitekwere, and old woman looking after her three orphaned grandchildren in Salima.

A live music performance by Daughters Band from Music Crossroads Academy entertained the women all night long plus DJ Ann on the decks.

Different prizes including one month free gym, dinner, lunch and Sunbird Hotel branded pens and notebooks were also given out to lucky women.
