According to Joseph Patelo, one of the guards working at the parish, about fifteen thugs ambushed two of his friends who were guarding the parish at around 2am and blindfolded them before tying them up.
Patel who was off duty the night of the incident said the thugs went away with different items including amplifiers, speakers, microphones and parish clothes.

Both Secretary General for the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) Father Henry Saindi and Diocesan Communications Secretary Preciano Muyakha confirmed the incident in an interview Monday.
