The Kau-Kau boys were in the comfort zone at interval as they led 3-0 through goals from Bright Munthali, Peter Kasonga and Yamikani Chester before Daniel Sibale closed the score sheet in the second half.

“I am happy that we have finished the first-round on second position and it will boost our confidence going into the second round. I salute my players for playing to instructions,” said Tigers coach Gerald Phiri Snr.

It was a miserable weekend for Epac who the previous afternoon were clobbered 4-1 by leaders Big Bullets.

At Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe, Silver Strikers   were held 1-1 by rookies and bottom-placed Fisd Wizards.

Silver took a first half lead through ChimwemweChisambi in the 24th minute, but the rookies came into the second half with renewed purpose, forcing the Bankers into rearguard action with their customary smooth-passing rhythm and it came as no surprise when Henry Misinde levelled the scores in the 48th minute, heading home a cross from Peter ‘N’janga’ Kumwenda.

Silver have finished the first-round on eighth position with 20 points while Wizards now have seven points from 12 games.

At Mzuzu Stadium, Moyale pipped Civo United 1-0 to end their three-game winning streak.

KhudaMuyaba scored the lone goal of the match six minutes to full time. Moyale have finished the first-round on ninth position with 17 points.

Kamuzu Barracks (KB) beat Mafco 3-1 in an all-soldiers affair at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe. KB are now sixth on the log table with 21 points from 13 games.
