“We have lined up six activities to mark 50 years of our existence, but in the first place we will have a symbolic tree planting exercise [on February 14] where three trees will be planted [by Minister of Education Emmanuel Fabiano, Ntenje and Professor Leonard Kamwanja, chairperson of the University Council] at our central office in Zomba.

In addition, he also disclosed that there will be a tracer study which aims at tracking down some students who went through the corridors of Unima.

“[The trace study] will give us a chance to establish how Unima students are faring out there and see where we can mend to suit to the current situation,” Ntenje said.

Meanwhile, Unima has managed to solicit K65 million of K200 million needed for the celebrations.—Mana
