Usi in prayers today
It is not drama. Actor Michael Usi, aka Manganya, will this afternoon present a sermon at the Comesa Hall in Blantyre which he says will deliver Malawi.
Usi said on Tuesday the open-door prayers will be spiced up by music performances by gospel artists Mlaka Maliro and Omba Lipenga.
He said the sermon, titled Ubatizowu ndi wa tonse [the baptism is for all], is based on Jeremiah 17 verse 11 which reads: “The person who gets money dishonestly is like a bird that hatches eggs it didn’t lay. In the prime of life he will lose his riches, and in the end he is nothing but a fool.”
Usi said one of the issues the sermon will discuss are wealth disparities that continue to blight Malawi.
“There are several ways of conveying a message. One can use drama or music but now I am going to preach a message that is good for the nation. It is a critical analysis of what makes a people happy.
“Obviously, if a human being is not a blessing to others, they are a disgrace. If you are doing too well when everybody else around you is in the quagmire of poverty, you are a shame,” he said.
While refusing to delve more into the sermon, the actor said he hopes that after delivering the message the country will change.
Looking at problems Malawi is facing like a patient, Usi, a clinician, claimed: “I have the chief history of the problems we are facing. I have done the physical and lab tests. I even have the x-rays and have the proper diagnosis. I offer the proper prescription.”
The prayers come hot on the heels of national prayers held at the same venue last week.
