Zimba: Give Malawians issues

A cleric in Livingstonia Synod of the CCAP has suggested that presidential candidates should temporarily stop the debate on cashgate to concentrate on articulating issues contained in their manifestos to enable Malawi make an informed decision come May 20 Tripartite Elections.

In an interview on Thursday, Reverend Bannet Magawa Zimba of Mabiri CCAP Church observed that the presidential candidates are not addressing substantive issues to help the electorate make a proper decision on who to give their vote.

Zimba said much as he appreciates the seriousness of cashgate, Malawians will not benefit from mere political rhetoric being propagated by the opposition parties.

“This year’s campaign has generally been devoid of issues and I believe that Malawians will have problems to decide on whom to choose for a president. Apart from the Cashgate, there is nothing new our presidential candidates are telling us,” said Zimba.

The reverend explained that failure by political parties to distribute copies of their manifestos has further compounded the problem.
