Zgeba Ward in Karonga has registered 105 new voters in the just-ended registration and verification exercise that ended on Monday ahead of by-elections. Karonga district elections officer Steve Ndau said many people already registered in the run-up to the May 20 Tripartite Elections and the recent exercise only targeted those who had attained the age of 18 after the elections. He said among the 105 new applicants, 59 are male and 46 female. He said about 600 registered voters verified their details. There are 9 699 registered voters in the area.—DEBORAH MANDA, MEC Stringer
