Zomba United back to SRFL reality
Sensational Zomba United must forget the 2014 Carlsberg Cup hangover and transfer their form to where they belong, the Southern Region Football League’s Premier Division.
United, who left a huge memory marker when reaching the national cup final and losing 2-0 to Big Bullets at Kamuzu Stadium last Sunday, have away issues to sort out today against ultra-defensive Machinga ADD.
The minnows, who Noel Gobede manages, left the stage with their heads held high after beating three Super League teams and two fellow Premier Division sides Support Battalion and Evirom to reach the final.
But tomorrow United, whose key players include experienced Charles Kalaile and Wado Ching’oma, must show their character when welcoming attack-minded Mangochi Police.
“It is our aim to earn promotion to the Super League this season. We know that with this form we can make it,” Ching’oma declared after seeing off Kamuzu Barracks (KB) two weeks ago at the Kamuzu Stadium.
Yesterday, Azam Tigers Reserve hosted Nyasa United at BAT Ground from 2.30 pm; the same venue where Ndirande Icons played Kabula United earlier at noon.
