Chairperson of the competition’s main organising committee, Jabbar Alide, confirmed the development.

“We met and came up with the decision to have the final in Lilongwe. All things being equal, the final will be held on November 1, which is a Sunday at Civo Stadium,” Alide said on Monday.

“We have already told the sponsors of the competition, Standard Bank, and they have given us a go ahead to have the game played at Civo Stadium on the said date.”

The final will see Wanderers return to the venue where they also won the Carlsberg Cup after beating bitter rivals Big Bullets in August.

This time they face cup-hungry Civo who against all odds, booted out TNM Super League defending champions Big Bullets in semi-final a week ago.

Civo put up an impressive come-back to upset tables beating Bullets 2-1 through Raphael Phiri’s brace after Chiukepo Msowoya had put Bullets in the driving seat.

The Nomads on the other hand, had to rely on an added time strike from substitute Muhammad Sulumba, who came off the bench to score the all-important goal to knockout Blue Eagles. n
