Gwamba’s single hits 11 000 views in 24 hrs
It only took a day for hip-hop star Gwamba’s single Munthu to attract 11 137 views and 5 224 downloads after its release on a local online music shop on Wednesday.
The song, done in collaboration with multi-awarding winning rapper Tay Grin and Malaulo, is part of the album Chakosi Changa to be ready this November.
The song, which emphasises the importance of collaboration, was uploaded on Malawi-Music.com at 09:49 am.
But by 9 am yesterday when The Nation visited the site, the song had attracted 11 137 views and 5 224 downloads.
This is almost double of the Black Missionaries’ one of the four singles Tidzingochezareleased in May this year which has 2 760 downloads.
Munthuhas since broken into the weekly top 20 chart on the website. The song Generals done by Malinga Mafia featuring Anne Matumbi is topping the chart with 9 652 downloads by press time.
Those making the top five include Bendeka by Martse featuring Nepman (8 030 downloads), Ndatondeka by Ambokile Salimu featuring Blasto, Gwamba and Complex (6 622 downloads), Tsogolo la Bhoby Trap Squad featuring DareDevils and Blakjak (6 175 downloads) and Chonchiby Nesnes (6 041 downloads).
