Love children, women—Fletcher

One of the country’s successful business women, Annie Fletcher, last Saturday asked women to love one another and also love their children as they serve Jesus Christ who preached love as the pillar of Christianity.

“The Bible teaches us to love others as we love ourselves. We cannot be servants of God if we do not love one another.

“We should not use our riches to despise our friends. Let us work together and never be carried away by the love of wealth. Seek ye the Kingdom of God and all these will be given unto you,” Fletcher said, in quoting a Bible verse.

Fletcher, owner of Annies Lodge and former politician, gave the advice at Thundu CCAP in Bangwe during this year’s area Women’s World Day of Prayer organised by Bangwe Zone 1.

She insisted that God loves those poor in spirit.

Chairperson of the zone, Joyce Maganga, said her zone had been doing charitable works by visiting and preaching to the sick at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH), visiting and preaching at Blantyre Prison [Chichiri], as well as assisting some people with disabilities at Malawi Council for Handicapped (Macoha).

“These prayers are meant to sensitise and remind women their role in communities they live in, as the theme tells us to serve the women and children as we receive Jesus Christ,” said Maganga.

The prayers were attended by 45 churches within the township.

Ladders to Heaven women’s choir and other choirs from Bangwe spiced up the prayers.
