“We are yet to receive official written communication, but verbally we have been communicated. As of now, I don’t know the reason for my firing until I get official letters.

“It’s been a week now since I was told the news. In the absence of the official letter, I am still carrying on my duties as a coach,” said Ntuta.

National coordinator for Junior Tennis Initiative (JTI) Hackson M’menthiwa) also confirmed receiving a call from Ntengula informing him of the firing of Gamula and Ntuta.

“It is true that I got a call from Ntengula informing me that the two coaches have been fired and are waiting official correspondence. I am yet to receive that official communication and also to hear the reasons for their dismissal,” said M’menthiwa.

He said will take up the issues with visiting development officer for lawn tennis responsible for southern Africa, Ryaan Kluger, who is visiting the country to conduct some courses.

Mtengula when contacted referred the issue to Ltam president Titani Muwalo who could neither confirm nor deny the firing.

“When someone is not performing they get fired. As a new committee we are reviewing many things including the performance of these coaches.

But since they have not received official letters, I cannot say they have been fired. Until they get the letters treat such stories as rumors. But what you should know is that no one is a life time coach,” said Muwalo
