Be Forward Wanderers and Kamuzu Barracks will this afternoon clash in Big Four Wafawafa Bonanza final at Bingu National Stadium after beating Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers 1-0, respectively yesterday.

In the match between archrivals Bullets and Wanderers, the Nomads started on a strong note.

They had the first attempt on goal through Harry Nyirenda but Bullets goalkeeper Ernest Kakhobwe was alert to save the situation.

Bullets replied a couple of minutes later with a long ball from Fischer Kondowe that found Muhammed Sulumba lurking in the box and he let loose a powerful grounder which missed the goal inches.

Vales Kamzere also came to the rescue of his defenders to deny Fischer Kondowe a goal from an acute angle.

Bullets had two goals disallowed when Mussa Manyenje and Muhammad Sulumba were adjudged to have scored from offside positions.

After recess, Wanderers came with some fluid passing football and they deservedly went ahead in the 60th minute through their new signing Yamikani Chester.

Earlier, Silver paid heavily for their wastefulness when they lost to KB by the same scoreline. Kelvin Hanganda scored KB’s goal.

The Bankers created hordes of chances that could have killed the game before Hanganda’s strike. Binwell Katinji was the worst culprit on the day, missing four clear chances, twice on oneon-one situation with Lemani Nthala in KB goal.

KB got a break in the 63rd minute when Manase Chiyesa   played in Hanganda in the box to connect past unsuspecting Silver Strikers goalkeeper Blessings Phiri.

Hanganda nearly doubled the lead a couple of minutes later. Dan Ziba had dispossessed defender Mike Roberts and floated a split pass that landed in the box, but Silver new signing Hygiene Mwendepeka made a timely intervention.

“We have just sounded a warning shot that KB means business in the coming season,” said KB team manager Francis Shaba.

Silver coach Lovemore Fazili was frustrated with the result.

“We were the better team obviously. It is unfortunate we had to leave the stage earlier. We created the most chances but could not score goals,” he said.
