Private helicopter lands at Ntcheu Bus Depot

There was commotion at Ntcheu bus depot on Wednesday evening when a jet had an emergency  landing there after it developed a lighting problem.

According to Ntcheu Police Station spokesperson Gift Matewere, the jet belongs to a South African couple and was flying from Polokwane in South Africa to Kilimanjaro in Tanzania via Club Makokola in Mangochi.

Matewere said the couple, Francis Maritz (55) and his wife Christine (53), wanted to stop at Makokola in Mangochi for three days to join their friends that are already there on their planes.

“As they were flying to Club Makolola, they had a problem with the light as it was getting dark around 7pm and they decided to land. They ended up landing at the bus depot, which is still under construction.

“We rushed to the scene to ensure security for the couple. We took them and deployed officers to guard the jet,” said Matewere, who said there were no damages or casualties. n

    1. They are saying a jet but looks like it’s a helicopter to me too. Don’t argue with them they may change and say it was a concord
