The Malawi House of Prayer has organised what it is calling the Jubilee Preparation Conference. One of the organisers of the conference, Alfred Nyengo, explains the essence of the conference to our editor JACOB JIMU

What is the event all about?

This is an interdenominational prayer conference which will be held from Thursday, June 6, to Saturday, June 8 2013, at Blantyre Baptist Church. The theme of the conference is ‘The Nation and the Issachar Mandate of Understanding the Times’. Guest speaker is Dr Steve Ogan from Africa House of Prayer (AHoP), and founder of High Calling Outreach Ministries – Nigeria, and Bishop Jeremiah Chikhwaza from Malawi House of Prayer.

Tell us something about the Malawi House of Prayer

The Malawi House of Prayer (MHoP) is an interdenominational institution whose call is to pray for the nation.

Why did you decide to hold the prayer conference?

To prepare both the body of Christ (church) and the nation for a season of blowing of trumpets and the redemptive move into a jubilee. We need to be equipped with necessary knowledge and filled with spiritual understanding in order to understand the significance of this season we find ourselves in as a nation.

What issues will be tackled during the prayers?

The conference will tackle a number of areas such as:

—Defining and understanding seasons spiritually

—Identifying our call as a nation

—Spiritual significance of the “Season in question

—Importance of ‘corporate prayer’ etc.

Which churches have confirmed their participation at the prayers?

Many churches and ministries, including church bodies/organs and individuals, have confirmed their active participation. Examples are Mastered Seed International, Bible Faith Church, Calvary Family, Blantyre Baptist, Agape Life Church, Christ Citadel International, Word Alive and Evangelical Association of Malawi (EAM).

What is your last word?

God created Malawi and made us for a specific purpose, and has given us a specific mandate for a specific season, to understand the times so that we can take appropriate actions to allow the Almighty God visit our nation.

I, therefore, implore all Christians, regardless of their church affiliations, to take part in the forthcoming conference so that they can get an understanding and acquire knowledge about season and times we are in as a nation—(Hosea 4:5 & 6 say: people and their prophets, they both stumble, day and night; they are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Because they have ignored the law of God.)
