Mwenelupembe: I encourage women to set both long-term and short-term goals

COMFWB Malawi Chapter chairperson, Sellina Mwenelupembe, encouraged women to believe in their ideas and capabilities.

“I encourage women to set both long-term and short-term goals as a pathway to transforming their dreams into tangible achievements. Women entrepreneurs should believe that everything is possible with determination and confidence,” she said.

Evelyn Kamanga, Managing Director of the Graca Machel Trust in Malawi, highlighted key challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, including limited access to finance, markets, and self-confidence.

“We are actively working to address these barriers through targeted training programmes designed to equip women with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed,” she said.

One of the programme beneficiaries, Mphatso Magwaya Yobe, shared how the training has transformed her approach to business.

“What started as a hobby is now a growing enterprise focusing on value addition in agribusiness, aquaculture, and horticulture. The skills I gained helped me turn my passion into a wealth-creating venture,” she said.

The event underscored the importance of sustained support and practical training for women-led enterprises. With dedicated leadership and empowering platforms, the programme is contributing meaningfully to Malawi’s economic development through inclusive entrepreneurship.
