At least 19 Michiru Womens’ Guild members under Tadala Peanut Butter Production Group have graduated from a four-day peanut butter production training aimed at supporting the activities of the group in assisting the needy in their areas.

Michiru CCAP moderator Reverend Paul Mawaya said the graduates are expected to improve their social welfare through the production of the peanut butter in their women’s guild ministry of serving the less privileged.

“We hope the skills imparted on them will ease financial constraints they had been facing because this will act as an income generating activity,” he said.

The women were trained by Stephanos Foundation.

Principal of Tadala Peanut Butter Production Group, Petro Vale said: “Upon the completion of the training the women will be able to produce 150 bottles of 250 milligrammes of peanut butter from a 50-kilogramme bag of groundnuts which they are selling at K450 at the church.

The chairperson of the group, Jenipher Manondo, thanked Thea Mawaya, wife to the moderator, for sensitising the women on the need to start income generating activities for them to earn a living and be independent.

“Within a week, we have produced 150 bottles of 250 milligrammes which we are selling at K450 on the market,” she said.
