Suya, who had gone sick in January last year, spent eight days in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Zomba Central Hospital.

Then she was referred to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital where she spent weeks in the ICU before being moved to Mwaiwathu Private Hospital, where she spent more days.

Narrating her story, her husband Pastor Chris Suya, said it has been a long battle “but finally I have only one word to thank God. Really he is God of miracles and you should not doubt about that fact.”

The husband said Thoko has been battling with kidney and liver problems.

“After days in the hospital it was discovered that her brain was swelling and she also had fluids in her lungs.

“As a man, I was shocked since she has been in a coma for hours. A lot of people joined me in prayer and today here we are, Thoko is out of the hospital with a new song,” he explained.

While in the hospital, Thoko wrote songs about her situation.

The first song was Adzandinyamula, which she released last month.

“This song is from Psalms 116. I sang it because of the situation I was in. I love the Lord because He hears me. He listens to my prayers.

“Chapter 116 of Psalms says the danger of death was all round me, the horrors of the grave closed in on me. I was filled with fear and anxiety. Then I called to the Lord and He saved me,” said the musician, while going through the lyrics of her song.

The Adzandinyamulaalbum has 10 songs such as NdidzabwezaChiyani, Ndichizeni, MmaloMwanga, Yewo, ZidzakhalaBwino, DzukaUwale, MtsinjeWochiza, Zinsinsiand MbusaWabwino.

Going through the album, the message centres on healing and the miracle she has witnessed. Thanking God, praising God, God fighting her battles are the overriding themes in the album.

MtsinjeWochiza is one of the songs that gives hope to people that there is a place of refuge.

The song features renowned gospel artist Apostle Chitheka.

Chitheka also backed her on the third song of the album, Ndichizenithat asks God to rescue her from disease.

The album also features Allan Chirwa on the seventh song DzukaUwale.

“All songs have meaning; its songs that give people hope that God is still with us even if the situation is so hard. People will enjoy the album,” said Thoko.

The album is due to be launched in July.

Thoko released the debut album Ndimamukondain 2006 and Amandikondathree years later. Adzandinyamulais her third album.
