Kananji pens two-year contract with Creck
Eliah Kananji has signed a two-year contract with Creck Sporting Club barely a day after resigning as Blue Eagles coach.
The Lilongwe-based TNM Super League team announced Kananji’s hiring in a statement on Saturday.

The statement reads in part: “Creck Sporting Club confirms that Eliah Kananji is the team’s new head coach. Kananji will be with us till 2027 after signing a two-year contract.”
Kananji in an interview said he looks forward to his job at the club.
He said: “I am excited to be part of the Creck family. The officials, players and supporters have given me a very warm welcome. I promise to ensure the team achieves its goals.
“Creck is very good side with very good players. All we need to do is work together to achieve our objectives.”
Kananji got down to business immediately as Creck were playing Mafco at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota.
During his tenure at Blue Eagles, which began in 2021, Kananji experienced a roller coaster of highs and lows.
Under his leadership, the team suffered relegation to the Central Region Football Association’s Chipiku Stores League in the 2023 season, but bounced back to the TNM Super League the following year.
One of the highlights of Kananji’s stint with Blue Eagles was leading them to victory in the 2024 FDH Bank Cup after defeating defending champions FCB Nyasa Bullets.
Meanwhile, Creck have not set targets for the coach according to the clubs board chairperson Muhammad Seleman.
He said: “What we want right now is for the team to start performing. What we are demanding from the coach is that the team should play good football and bring positive results.”
