Mlowoka said they want to ensure efficiency in the use of CDF; hence, calling upon citizens of Mzimba to hold duty-bearers accountable for their actions.
He said: “We are implementing a project that seeks to empower communities to track public projects and demand transparency and accountability from duty-bearers on the use of CDF and District Development Fund [DDF] from 2020 to 2024 financial years.
“At the end of the day, we want these development baskets to uplift people’s lives in communities through implementation of meaningful projects.”
Khosolo Citizen Forum chairperson Clement Kamanga said they are not impressed with the implementation of CDF projects in Mzimba South East Constituency because some projects had stalled.
On his part, Luwerezi Citizen Forum chairperson Kondwani Longwe also said they are
experiencing problems in the implementation of CDF projects in Mzimba Luwerezi Constituency where many projects are either stalled or only exist on paper.
In response, M’Mbelwa District Council director of lands and public works Allan Chitete said he needed to check records before commenting on the concerns raised.
Both Mzimba Luwerezi lawmaker Sam Chirwa and Mzimba South East parliamentarian Ackson Kalaile Banda did not attend the meetings.
