What can you do to also become a ‘winner’? Today we share and discuss five keys you can use to win.
Desire the win more than anyone else: Winners are very ambitious. Do you want the win more than anyone else or you are just trying your luck? To be a winner, you need to really want the win.
You need to be ver y ambitous. Winning follows those that really want to win. If you really want it, you will work very hard.
If you do not really want the win you will not have he energy to plough through tough moments on the journey to the win. Ambition works like fuel that helps you propel through the mud and rocks.
Envision the reward: Imagine you have already won and see the ‘prize’! Envision it. If you were fighting for a promotion to a managerial role, imagine being the manager, how would it feel? What would it feel like being in that big office? Imagine it like really.
This makes you really work hard to win it so that your dream can become a reality. When you imagine having the award, you will not want to lose. Your appetite for losing goes to zero and that is key to winning. If you have been a winner before, recall how you felt when you last won.
This will give you impetus to plough hard, to be resilient and to be determined. As you are in the game and seem to be winning, keep celebrating the milestones but only momentarily because the ultimate win is the war not small battles along the way.
Un d e r s t a n d t h e rules: In everyone game or competition, there are rules of the game. I have seen many people who were best winning candidates fail because they simply did not understand or follow the rules of the game.
Do you spend reasonable time understanding the rules? Let us give a simple but impactful example here. Those who are in the trading and other related businesses tend to bid for tenders many times.
Most of the bidders end up being disqualified before they even evaluated for their technical capabilities and financial competitiveness because they did not comply with such basic rules like validity period for their quote or currency used for their pricing.
As you understand the rules, be strategic to see how you can use the rules to your advantage. Some rules have loopholes or can be used to your advantage to win. Do not miss those opportunities because if you ignore, other clever players will use them.
Understand how winner is determined: This is where the winning really happens when all the basics are taken good care of. Check and understand how the winner is picked. Do they assign points? If so, based on what? Where are the biggest marks and how do you earn them. Where are you weak and what can greatly reduce your overall rating?
As you understand how winner is determined, focuss on those components that require easy effort but with big impact on chance for winning.
