FCB Nyasa Bullets say they have received 50 applications for the club’s head coach position.

The closing date for receiving applications, according to the advert which the club flighted on its Facebook page, was February 2.

The People’s Team acting chief executive officer Albert Chigoga in an interview said a team of technical experts will now go through the applications to short-list the candidates.

“The response has been overwhelming. We have received applications from across the world and after the short-listing process, we will arrange the interviews,” he said.

However, Chigoga could not be drawn to comment on the final figure of the local coaches that have applied, but the club’s interim coach Gilbert Chirwa and former Flames mentor Ernest Mtawali confirmed having applied.

“We are making a compilation of all applications to know the geography and calibre of applicants, as such, we cannot provide accurate information until this exercise is completed,” said Chigoga.

According to the advert, among others, the successful candidate will be required to provide technical leadership and performance oversight across all teams and ensuring alignment with the club’s football philosophy.

The coach will also be expected to establish clear player development pathways, performance bechmarks and succession plans, work closely with club management, player recruitment, talent identification and long-term technical planning.

The club said the post will be offered on a performance-based fixed-term contract.

The position fell vacant following the dismissal of club legend Peter Mponda a day after the bid to win the league title fell through following a barren draw  with the now relegated Mighty Tigers.
