Thole’s clean sheet halted, Kaonga scores 2nd goal
Zimbabwe-based goalkeeper William Thole’s impressive run of clean sheets was halted on Sunday when his club Simba Bhora lost 1-0 to Dynamos in the Premier Soccer League.
Prior to the match, the Flames first-choice goal tender had gone five games without conceding.
According to heraldonline.co.zw, it took a wonder strike from Ghanaian attacker Frank Agyemang to halt the good run as Thole was caught off-guard in the first-half stoppage time.
Moments earlier, the Malawian goal minder saved a penalty awarded to the revived and remoulded Harare-based giants for a foul.
Nevertheless, Thole still stands proudly as the ‘keeper with the safest hands in the Zimbabwean top-flight league.

In an interview yesterday, the towering goalkeeper, who won the league’s Golden Glove Award in his debut season last year, said while it was a setback, “it is part of the game and I won’t allow it to distract my focus”.
Following the defeat, Simba Bhora are sixth in the 18-team league with nine points from six matches while Dynamos, who also have a Malawian midfielder Stanely Billiat, are second with 14 points also from six games.
Billiat was introduced as a second half substitute.
Meanwhile, Caps United t, which Malawian duo of Chawanangwa Kaonga and Lloyd Njaliwa plays for, still sit at the summit of the league with 15 points from six matches.
They beat Manica Diamonds 2-0 and Kaonga scored the first goal for the Harare-based side, whose second assistant coach is their fellow Malawian legend Joseph Kamwendo.
