Coaches body lauds Fazili
The National Football Coaches Association says the Scorchers mentor Lovemore Fazili has proved that local coaches can achieve good results if well supported.
The association’s chairperson Aubrey Nankhuni said this in reference to the Malawi National Women’s Football Team’s fairy-tale run at the ongoing 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) in Rabat, Morocco, where they have qualified for the semi-final and, with it, booked a ticket to the 2027 Fifa Women’s World Cup.

In an interview yesterday, he said: “As an association, we are so proud of coach Fazili and his backroom staff’s achievements at Wafcon.
“He has proved that given the necessary support, we have coaches that can deliver.
“In the same vein, we also commend the Football Association of Malawi for providing the necessary support to the team, which ensured good preparations. But over and above that, big up to our girls, the players for defying the odds to reach this far.”
Fazili attributed the Scorchers’ good run to team spirit, saying: “We acknowledge the acclaims from the coaches body and as a team, we appreciate.”
