Standard Bank cherishes Euromoney recognition

Standard Bank Malawi plc chief executive Phillip Madinga says the bank’s recognition as the best in Malawi at the 2026 Euromoney Awards for Excellence shows its commitment to sustainable growth and innovation in financial services.

Overall, under the 2026 Euromoney’s Awards for Excellence, Standard Bank Group’s operations were also  singled out for leading in setting the global standard in performance, innovation and client impact in investment banking services.

Madinga is quoted in the statement as having said that the award is a testament of the Malawi Stock Exchange-listed bank’s dedication and commitment to providing their customers with the best services tailored to suit their financial needs.

He said: “This award is a testament of our team’s dedication and unwavering commitment to providing our customers with the best services tailored to suit their financial needs.

“It also reflects the trust that Malawians place in us as their best financial service provider.”

Euromoney, a UK-based publication  onbanking and finance, also conferred 17 accolades to Standard Bank Group operations across 12 African countries, including Malawi, Tanzania, Mauritius, Kenya, Ghana, Botswana and South Africa.

Standard Bank Group chief executive Sim Tshabalala said the recognition reflects the bank’s ability to serve clients across all segments of Africa’s economy.

“The awards recognise Standard Bank’s ability to serve clients across the full spectrum of the economy, from entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises to multinational corporates, institutional investors and governments,” he said.

For over 30 years, Euromoney’s Excellence Awards have been among the most prestigious in global banking, attracting entries from more than 600 institutions across 100 countries annually.
