Malawi’s representative at the Miss World 2026 competition, Ireen Navicha, still has a chance of making the Top 40 despite missing out on some of the challenges that offer contestants an automatic place in the quarter-finals, according to the contest’s preliminary outcome.
Navicha failed to secure a spot through the Head-to-Head challenge or the Top Model competition and she will now have to make the most of the remaining opportunities at the global pageant.

She also took part in the fast-track challenges, including the Sport Challenge, Head Chef Challenge and Talent Challenge, which offer winners automatic qualification into the Top 40. However, she did not emerge among the winners in these categories.
Her remaining chances can now stem from the Multimedia, People’s Choice and Beauty with a Purpose categories as well as Remaining Judges Pick where contestants are selected by the judges.
In an interview, Miss Malawi Organisation public relations officer, Stephen Mdala said they remain optimistic that Navicha can still advance considering several avenues for qualification are yet to be concluded.
“Despite not making it in the other challenges, she still has a chance to earn points through the remaining challenges, while the judges will also have a role in determining contestants who progress to the Top 40. So we are positive she will make it,” he said.
The Miss World 2026 provides several routes to the quarter-finals, including challenge alongside judges’ selections.
Mdala said going forward Navicha’s performance in the remaining activities will, therefore, be crucial as she seeks to keep Malawi’s hopes of a strong finish alive.
