Uk-based Malawian launches lounge bar in Nottingham in grand style
The thriving cultural and entertainment district of Hockley in Nottingham City Centre welcomed a premium touch of diaspora excellence last Friday, as Noire Lounge hosted its grand official opening.
Noire Lounge & Bar promises to elevate Nottingham’s late-night economy by introducing an upscale environment that seamlessly marries stylish interiors, premium cocktail mixology, and a vibrant soundtrack dominated by Afrobeat, R&B, and Amapiano.
Derived from the French word for “black,” the name Noire represents sophistication, mystery, elegance, and luxury. The venue connects deeply to this meaning by channelling an aesthetic of effortless, high-end nighttime allure.

From its sleek, moody lighting and refined decor to its top-tier hospitality, Noire Lounge creates an exclusive, soulful atmosphere designed for mature professionals and music lovers alike.
The enterprise is the brainchild of Edwin Ndenguma, a visionary British business mogul and entrepreneur of Malawian heritage, who expressed immense pride in bridging his roots with a commercial investment in the United Kingdom.
“This lounge is more than just a business investment; it is a celebration of identity, culture, and community,” Ndenguma stated.
“Growing up with a rich Malawian heritage while living in the UK, I always dreamed of creating a space that reflects premium hospitality, warmth, and excellent energy that is from the ‘Warm heart of Africa.’
Ndenguma added: “The word Noire means black elegance, brilliance and excellence and this defines our entire philosophy—it encapsulates the sophisticated, smooth, and deeply elegant experience we want to provide our guests.”
Combining stylish interiors, expertly crafted cocktails and an energetic atmosphere, Noire promises an upscale setting where you can relax, socialise and dance the night away.
“To have Honourable Justice Agnes Patemba and the Sheriff of Nottingham, Councillor Audrey Dinnall, join us to cut the ribbon is a profound honour that validates the hard work of the diaspora in contributing to the UK’s cultural and economic fabric,” said Ndenguma
He added that Noire Lounge aims to serve as a hub of excellence and a shining example of what Malawians in the diaspora can achieve.
He said: “We want to show the world the premium standards our community stands for. I am incredibly grateful for the support from the Malawi High Commission and the City of Nottingham”
The grand opening attracted high-profile diaspora figures, business leaders and local dignitaries, positioning Noire Lounge as the newest premium hotspot in the heart of Nottingham.
