IT company dresses Malawi green
Staff from Techno Brain, a global IT solutions company, on Friday descended on Area 10 in Malawi’s capital Lilongwe where they planted about 100 indigenous trees.
Techno Brain deputy general manager Harsh Khopkar said the tree planting was a symbol and message to underline the fact that the environment needs conservation and that his company was also environmental conscious.
“For every paper printed or used, there is a tree being cut down elsewhere if companies and government can automate their offices to use things such as e-mails, trees and the environment would be conserved better,” said Khopkar.
Deputy Minister of Environment and Climate Change Management Godfrey Kamanya, who joined the IT crowd in the tree planting exercise, said the move was commendable and worthy emulating.
