Stuck in the ancient times

With the influx of minibuses and other mechanised forms of transport in the country, one would be tempted to think ox-carts, which used to be a common mode of transport decades ago, are no longer in use. This is however not the case at Kwandala Village in Kasungu.

In the picture, George Elisa cashes in on transporting goods in his village, which is 25 kilometres from the M1 Road, to Mtengowanthenga Trading Centre every day. Elisa says he makes more than K3 000 (about $7) everyday.—THOKO CHIKONDI, Staff Writer
