In an interview yesterday, the committee’s chairperson Limbani Matola said preparations for the event are gaining momentum.

He said: “We are opening up the title sponsorship to give leading brands a chance to be part of a unifying and empowering sporting event.

“The Africa Netball Cup is more than just a competition, it is a celebration of women’s sport, teamwork, and African pride.”

Matola said the title sponsorship package will include naming rights, extensive media exposure, brand visibility on event venues and an opportunity to engage with millions of passionate netball fans across the continent.

“The tournament provides a platform for visibility beyond Malawi boarders. Companies will enhance their brands in 11 African countries, this is a rare opportunity,” he said.

Meanwhile, Matola said installation of the wooden floor at the event venue, which is a requirement for international tournaments, is almost complete.

“We are almost there. The works have been going on till late in the evenings to ensure that everything is in place,” he said.

Malawi Queens captain Takondwa Lwazi said their preparations are going on well.

She said:  “We look at this as an opportunity to give our fans enjoyable games and we would like to urge them to come in large numbers and support us.

“We are also urging companies to support our hosting so that we deliver a beautiful tournament.”

Organised under the auspices of Africa Netball, the championship brings together top national teams from across the continent, showcasing Africa’s growing netball talent and sporting excellence.

Netball Association of Malawi president Vitumbiko Gubuduza said they are excited with the prospects of hosting the event, describing it as an opportunity to showcase Malawi’s sporting talent and hospitality.

“This tournament will give our fans an opportunity to witness top-class netball and also inspire young girls across the country to take up the sport,” she said.

The participating teams are South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Eswatini, Tanzania, Namibia, Lesotho and hosts Malawi.

With the tournament continuing to gain regional and international attention, organisers say this year’s edition presents an unmatched branding and marketing platform for corporate partners.
