African Print Party lights up Blantyre

 The Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre was on Friday transformed into a vibrant celebration of African culture as it hosted the highly anticipated African Print Party.

The event, which drew attendees from all walks of life, was a spectacular showcase of local talent, fashion and music.

The evening’s entertainment began with a mesmerising performance Dikamawoko Cultural Dance Troupe which set the tone for an unforgettable night. The crowd was then treated to electrifying sets by renowned music stars Fada Moti, Tuno and Kelly Kay.

Teddy Makadi made a surprise appearance and performed with a female friend from Germany, sparking widespread interest in their relationship. The nature of their connection left many speculations, as they seemed to share a strong bond. Adding

 to the intrigue, the pair made a stylish statement by wearing matching outfits which further fuelled the buzz surrounding their friendship that left the audience in awe.

 In line with the African Print theme, attendees were encouraged to wear their finest locally made Zitenje outfits. The result was a kaleidoscope of colours and patterns, creating an atmosphere that was festive and culturally rich. The fashion stakes were high, with males and females vying for top spots in the best-dressed competitions.

Amaryllis Hotel general manager Ramy Waheed said the African Print Party is about culture and music.

He said: “We have a very rich culture in Malawi which we wanted to celebrate.You could see the magic mix of culture and music in the outfits people wore. I am absolutely satisfied.

“I donot think this should be a one-off event; it can be held three or four times a year. We can make it a regular event where people come wearing traditional attire and take a break from the usual routine. It is a great start and I believe it will become a regular occurrence.”

The African Print Party offered a unique blend of traditional and modern entertainment.
