Airtel Malawi boosts ICT at community technical college

Airtel Malawi has given 10 new desktop computers with a 4G MiFi router pre-loaded with a 100 gigabyte data to Mangochi Community Technical College to boost the college’s information and communication technology (ICT).

The telecommunications firm’s marketing manager Tione Kafumbu said the donation is in line with government’s plan to scale-up e-learning in the delivery of ICT education and training.

“Most of our learners do not have access to educational ICT facilities; hence, the donation of these computers,’’ he said.

Kafumbu said the integrated ICT and Internet service provider is passionate about changing the lives of the youth and believes in unlocking their potential.

“We know that government would like to further e-learning to mitigate human resources in some schools, especially in rural areas through increased access to electronic educational facilities,” he said.

The College principal Mbasa Mwawembe said the donation of ICT equipment was timely.

“Airtel Malawi has been providing various educational support to schools nationwide, including our technical college, and this demonstrates true meaning of corporate social responsibility,” he said.

Mwawembe said the computers will not only benefit the college but also improve the quality of teaching and learning for the surrounding schools that do not have access to ICT learning tools.
