Under-12 children will crack their brains on the chessboard tomorrow at Blantyre Sports Club as the Isuzu Car Show Kids Tournament rolls into action.

According to Southern Region Chess League (SRCL) spokesperson Makhosi Nyirenda, the contest is open to all children within the prescribed age and each contestant is required to pay a registration fee of K1 000.

According to Mike Appel and Gatto marketing consultant Sam Chiwaka, fantastic prizes have been arranged for the winners.

“The winners will feel it indeed. Apart from the declared prizes, we are also going to spoil them with some fantastic prizes,” said Chiwaka.

This is quite a boost to children’s chess which has been crying for more sponsored tournaments on top of the one sponsored by Jungle Pepper.

Children that have already shown interest to participate in the day-long event include Karan Khatri, Mirabelle Chafumuka, Yebo Sanga, Tumpale Chawinga, Alex Nyereyi, Eugene Mkandawire, Mishelle Chimbe, Mzengi Mhone, Asalele Chiwoko, Chifuniro Chimbe, Thumbiko Mtumbuka, David Mkomba, Chawezi Chirwa,Will Phoso, Wayne Nyirenda and Kasokena Kamwendo.

Chief children instructor Joseph Chalemba urged parents to be at Blantyre Sports Club by 8.30am so that the games must start in good time.
