Chichiri Roundabout on Masauko Chipembere Highway in Blantyre received yet another knock on Tuesday when a truck belonging to one of the companies working on the second phase of the highway had a brake failure. The Volvo FM12 truck with a Tanzanian registration TZ 381 BWV belonging to Silent Road Haulage Limited of Dar es Salaam had a trailer belonging to Mac Contractors Co. Limited.
At the time of the accident, in which there were no casualties, the truck was about to start the transfer of earth moving equipment from a site near the roundabout, according to eye witnesses.
