Ansah sells APM to Shire Valley
Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) running mate Jane Ansah has asked people from the Shire Valley to vote for former president Peter Mutharika in the September 16 General Election.
She said this on Wednesday when she conducted a whistle-stop tour of Nsanje District.
Ansah, who is a retired Justice of the Malawi Supreme Court of Appeal and presided over the annulled 2019 presidential election, started her whistle-stop tour at Marka in Nsanje South before proceeding to Nsanje Boma, Tengani and Sorgin.

She said: “People in the country, including those from the Shire Valley, are experiencing hunger.
“The DPP administration will reduce the prices of fertilisers and encourage irrigation farming here in Nsanje, taking advantage of perennial rivers such as the Shire, Ruo and others to improve food security.”
Ansah said DPP will strive to collect K6 trillion in revenue annually and spend it prudently to develop the country.
“APM will disburse K5 billion to each constituency, K100 million for women empowerment, K100 million for youth economic empowerment and K50
million for sports activities in all constituencies,” she said.
In his remarks, DPP-vice president (South) Joseph Mwanamvekha said the cost of living is high in the country.
He said people were struggling to buy basic commodities such as food and fertilisers because of high prices.
“We have also seen that the 72-kilometre Marka-Bangula Railway is not complete yet. APM will complete constructing the railway once voted into power,” said Mwanamvekha.
Taking her turn, DPP director of women Mary Navicha thanked APM for honouring women by making Ansah his running mate.
“Malawians are sailing in poverty which will decline if people vote for APM next month,” she said.
Nsanje DPP district governor Harold Moses said people in the district are geared to vote for APM on September 16.
