Gospel singer Armstrong has announced that he has changed his stage name to Onesimus.

The musician, who became a ‘born-again’ Christian a few months ago, announced this on social sites Twitter and Facebook on Monday.
“I have changed my stage name to ‘Onesimus’ effective today,” he tweeted.
Onesimus is a Greek name which means “beneficial, profitable”.
In the Bible, Onesimus was an escaped slave of Philemon who met, and was converted by Paul while in prison.
Born Sopani Armstrong Kalua, the artist said in an interview that his moniker change is as a result of a revelation from his spiritual father Prophet Shepherd Bushiri.
“Onesimus is a prophetic name that carries a breakthrough of my life.
“It means, once was unprofitable and now I am profitable, I was once useless but now I am useful to this generation and to the generations to come, I was not important but now am important, those who rejected me shall look for me.
“This name was given by my spiritual father Prophet Shepherd Bushiri after he received a revelation from Jesus Christ. And he said the son of God wants you to change your stage name to Onesimus. Just like Saul changed to Paul, Abram to Abraham, Jacob to Israel,” explained the singer, who is currently working on his debut gospel album and is now a member of Bushiri’s Prophetic Ministries.
Armstrong said the change also signifies how deep he is as a born again Christian.
Said he: “I am not going to be moved by anyone, and I know people are standing against my spiritual father prophet Shepherd Bushiri. But one thing the world should know is that Jesus Christ was also rejected in his own country. So whatever is happening, I am not surprised at all. It’s a prophecy that was given before.”
