Ballot paper distribution has gone well in Nkhata Bay and that there were no queries from polling centersover the issue.

There was however commotion in the early hours of today following amisunderstanding over ballot boxes that were kept in an unofficialelectoral car.

According to the district’s District Commissioner Fred Movete theboxes came late last night together with stationary material but justthe ballot boxes were kept in a stationary car at the district’scouncil offices for security reasons.

“When the security officers and presiding officers were off-loadingthe empty boxes from the stationary car, people suspected foul playbut after carefully explaining the situation to them, themisunderstanding was cleared,” said Movete.

  1. Mbendera is to blame for all this. He created a situation whereby opposition was treated differently from PP and from there onwards anything and everything MEC was doing was suspicious. If MEC had treated presidential advisers and the opposition (mainly Jessie Kabwira) the same way things would have been very different. Its time for Mbendera to banish from Malawi at all levels. The guy is a failure and I wonder how he got such a demanding job. Msosa would have handled this with distinction because she is a woman of high moral integrity. I just pray that this volatility will not last long otherwise Malawi is sitting on a time bomb.

    1. That’s why PAC advised MEC to manage people’s perception well. MEC made people to suspect anything MEC has been doing. Very sad for such old people in MEC not to read the writing on the wall that they are dealing with a completely different generation.
