Africa Movie Academy Awards (Amaa) has announced that all is set for the 2Face Idibia Malawi concert next month and that Malawians should gear up for a successful show.

This comes amid concerns that the venue for show, BAT Ground, is not designed to host shows of two-phase magnitude. It is alleged that the ground was designed to host day sports activities only and the power installed on the venue is single phase.

However, Amaa press officer Wezi Mzumara says Malawi should look forward to a successful show.

“In its nine-year existence, Amaa and the African Film Academy have organised many concerts across Africa. In March this year Amaa responded to the request of Malawi’s PSquare fans and brought the Alingo stars to Lilongwe. That concert has since been described as the most incredible performance in Malawi, ever.

“We will again create a spectacular success with the 2Face concert. The Blantyre show is a day time event in order to give more people the opportunity to experience the exciting sensation of 2Face Idibia’s new album and a full line up of supporting artists. Working with the BAT Grounds management we are fully prepared to host 2 Face’s live band,” explained Mzumara.

However, she was noncommittal on the kind of equipment to be used during the gig and where it will be hired, save for highlighting that “2Face and his entourage will arrive in Malawi on the 11th of July.”

The concert will be held on July 13, to mark the completion of the Blantyre Film in a Box training which took place from May 27 to June 16.

“Malawian artists will have the opportunity to not only perform with, but also to network with 2Face, arguably one of Africa’s biggest stars,” explained Mzumara.

2Face will be supported by Maskal, Agorosso, Dikamawoko, Hazel Mak, Blasto and Trumel with DJs Maya and Malick on the turntables.
