Kamuzu Barracks are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to win a double this season as they have roped in Lawson Chilewe from Bullets on loan.

Both KB and Chilewe confirmed the development in separate interviews.

“It is true that I will play the second round of the league with Kamuzu Barracks on loan. Bullets have already given me the nod and everything has been finalised,” said Chilewe.

He said he has been spending much time on the bench at Bullets and hopes to get more game time at KB.

KB vice-chairperson Lieutenant Duncan Justin Taipi said Bullets have already cleared the player to join his team.

“It is true Chilewe will be joining us or I should say he has joined the club. I have a clearance letter from Bullets general secretary Higger Mkandawire, which we got on Wednesday. We are glad to have him as he will give the technical team more options in attack,” said Taipi.

Mkandawire said, as a club, they are not there to block the future of players.

“Yes, Lawson [Chilewe] is joining KB and Welani Nyirenda is now a Mafco player. We are not here to stand in players’ way. They asked for transfer and we have agreed,” he said.

Mighty Wanderers’ Victor Mpinganjira, Kondwani Kumwenda and Nafe Msasa are currently negotiating transfers to the same team.

“I am still a Wanderers player, but there are talks going on regarding my transfer to KB. I am just waiting for the outcome. I have no problem playing for KB,” said Kumwenda while

Mpinganjira said he has asked KB executive to make him an offer, which the club is yet to draft.

KB team manager Francis Shaba confirmed Mpinganjira and Kumwenda talks, but said they are yet to reach a deal.

“These are young players who we think can add depth to our team. We have been approached by several players and we are open to negotiations,” said Shaba.

Msasa also confirmed having talked to KB officials on a possible move.
