Big Bullets FC players have received an extra 50 percent game bonus as a token of appreciation for their 3-0 win over their arch-rivals Mighty Wanderers in a TNM Super League match on Sunday.

They were paid K15 000 (about $44) each for the feat, which was K5 000 (about $14) more than their normal game bonus.

Bullets turned on a vintage display that mesmerised the Nomads into submission.

Bullets general secretary Higger Mkandawire said the gesture was an appreciation of a job well-done.

“That was a crucial match which we needed to win at all cost because apart from the league title race, we were also looking at the Carlsberg Malawi sponsorship contest,” said Mkandawire.

He said they will continue to motivate the players as the chase for the league title heads towards conclusion.

“We will be offering more of such pledges in crucial games in an attempt to motivate the players to win the league. So, it was not only against Wanderers,” he said.

Team captain Fischer Kondowe said the pledge inspired the team.

“Even without the pledge, we would still have given out our best, but the extra game bonus pledge was an extra source of motivation,” said Kondowe.

Chimango Kayira’s beauty and wonderkid Gabadinho Mhango’s double humbled the Nomads.
