Big Bullets sprung from the dead to gun down Red Lions 2-1 at Kamuzu Stadium and slash back TNM Super League leaders Moyale Barracks’ cushion to a point yesterday.

Burly striker Lottie Chawinga reportedly put the Zomba soldiers in front, only for new recruits Mussa Manyenje and Frazer Menyani to characteristically score for the Bullets who moved to 25 points, one point behind Moyale.

bullets-celebOn Saturday, Moyale held on to their dream for a first-ever top flight league championship after a straight 2-0 beating of troubled Blantyre United in a second-round game at Mzuzu Stadium.

Joint league scorer Deus Nkutu moved top of the scoring chart with 12 goals in 17 games when he netted alongside Timothy Nyirenda for Moyale who were missing coach Nicholas Mhango. The Super League of Malawi (Sulom) gave the updates.

Moyale top the standings on 36 points from 17 games. United are still second from bottom on 11 points from 16 games going after beating tail-enders Karonga United 1-0 through Muhamad Sulumba’s goal at the same Mzuzu venue.

It was United’s only third win of the season whereas Karonga new coach Abbas Makawa has now gone three games without win since being appointed.

At Kamuzu Stadium, Khumbo Ng’ambi finally registered his first two goals for Mighty Wanderers since switching from Karonga United when the Nomads eased to a comfortable 3-1 beating of Mafco at Kamuzu Stadium.

Midfield workhorse Patrick Masanjala netted the soldiers’ face-saver. The Nomads jumped to eighth as of Saturday on 17 points from 15 games, whereas Mafco, who drew 0-0 with Chikwawa United yesterday, are fifth on 24 points in 16 games. n
