BB trustees reinstate Jomo, executive challenge decision

Big Bullets trustees on Friday reinstated Isaac Jomo Osman and Mabvuto Chibambo as main supporters committee chairperson and general secretary respectively, a move that has been challenged by part of the executive committee.

Osman stepped down voluntarily last year while Chibambo was suspended indefinitely following disagreements with the Kondi Msungama-led executive committee.

Msungama yesterday challenged the trustees’ decision on Osman, describing it as unprocedural. He, however, said there are some issues the trustees need to clarify on the matter.

Trustees chairperson James Busile justified the reinstatement of the duo, saying the issues that led to their resignation and suspension were resolved amicably.

“The decision has been made as part of the process to try and bring back sanity in the management of the club,” said Busile.

Part of the letter from the trustees to Osman, dated March 3 2015, co-signed by Busile and secretary Jim Kalua, reads: “The board of trustees would like to advise that you have been reinstated as chairperson following an apology you made on radio stations. It is our hope that you will contribute greatly to the success of the team.”

The letter lifting Chibambo’s suspension, dated March 5 2015 says the disciplinary committee did not find any wrong-doing on his part.

Both Osman and Chibambo confirmed being served with the letters and said they were happy to resume their roles.

Chibambo wasted no time in exerting his authority by demanding that the executive committee should explain actual revenue realised from the CAF Champions League preliminary-round, first-leg against Fomboni Club De Moheil and how it has been used.

Msungama has challenged the reinstatement of the two, saying: “The process was done without consulting the executive board and it should also be recalled that when Jomo voluntarily stepped down, it was the same trustees who endorsed Stone Mwamadi to take over from him.

“Now what becomes of Mwamadi, have they already informed him? What will be the justification of demoting him when he was already confirmed and have they examined the implications of such a move? Those are the questions the trustees need to answer before we accept their decision.”

Msungama also said it is unconstitutional for the trustees to remove and reinstate officials, saying their role is “just to offer advice to the executive board as well as facilitate elections.”

On Chibambo’s issue, Msunganma said: “With him, it was just a suspension, but still the proper consultation ought to have taken place before his reinstatement.”

Busile admitted that Mwamadi has not been informed about the development, “but he will revert to his initial position as vice-chairperson and he will be informed accordingly.”

The executive committee did not show up for Friday’s meeting and, according to Msungama, this is because the acting treasurer and GS have been asked to come up with a thorough report complete with documents on how much was made from the match and how it was spent as well as the balance.

Msungama also said his focus now is on raising funds for the trip to Sudan.
