Beit Cure International Hospital hosts a fund-raising golf tournament on February 2 at Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC), the hospital announced in a press statement on Tuesday.

Proceeds from the day-long 18-hole competition will go towards supporting and providing medication to physically challenged children and families.

Beit Cure is thus appealing to the corporate world to sponsor a team of four participants at K100 000 (about $294) and flight a banner at LGC for K35 000 (about $102).

“As the leading provider of speciality paediatric surgical care in Malawi, Cure is helping children who have no hope for the future because of their physical disability,” reads the statement sent to The Nation.

“By helping a child walk without crutches, repairing a smile or straightening a back, a life is changed. It is more than surgery. It is a gift that will continue to pay dividends the rest of that child’s life.”

The winning team will pocket some prizes and a floating trophy which will be displayed at the premises of the sponsor for the year running.

Freemantle Management Limited is managing the event.

FDH team won last year’s event and they were also the main sponsors.

Further information about the golf event can be obtained from Paul Machira (+265995817846) or Samuel Chiwaka (+265995830845).
