Biting sex worker’s ear earns ‘ex-boyfriend’ jail
A jealousy man, who was once in a relationship with a sex worker at Thyolo Boma, will stay 32 months in prison for biting off the ear of his former ‘sweetheart’.
The Thyolo Magistrate’s Court last week pronounced the jail term to Fyson Gyson for inflicting injury on his ex-girlfriend.
The two have been in a steamy relationship until early this year before separating. On February 2 2026 Gyson got rumours that his ex-girlfriend was seen at a resthouse at Thyolo Boma with another man.

Without hesitation, the man rushed to the guest house. He found the two in a room while naked. A big fight ensued.
State prosecutor Petros Sindo told the court that the man managed to escape the scene, leaving Gyson and the sex worker fighting. During the altercation, the woman allegedly struck Gyson in the face with a glass tumbler. Gyson, in retaliation, bit and removed her right ear.
The matter was reported to police and the Gyson was arrested.
Appearing in court, he pleaded guilty to the charge of causing grievous harm to his ex-lover, before conviction.
He swiftly reasoned with the court to consider leaving him scot-free for he is caring for an aged grandmother and two orphans.
However, the State asked for a stiff penalty emphasising that the convict had inflicted a permanent injury on the victim. The court should also consider that Gyson had premeditated before committing the crime.
In passing sentence, magistrate Samrah Muhammad agreed
with the State’s submission. She sentenced him so that it serves as a deterrent.
Gyson, 30, hails from Mbeluko Village, Traditional Authority Nchilamwera, Thyolo
