Blantyre mourns Young Life members

Caskets_at_church_funeralA sombre mood engulfed Chileka International Airport Wednesday afternoon when scores of people gathered at to welcome the bodies of Young Life members Lusayo Mhango and Wanangwa Sanga who died on Friday in a road accident in Zimbabwe.

The two were involved in a car crash in Bulawayo on their return from a Young Life Africa Conference.

Vice-president of Young Life, Steve Larmey, expressed deep sorrow at the loss of the two on Young Life’s website.

“Sanga was a humble learner and a great brother in the time of need and plenty. Mhango had a heart as big as Malawi; he loved people deeply and well. Each had a profound impact on many kids and on those who have shared their ministry,” reads the post.

He also implored people to pray for Sanga and Mhango’s wives who were both newlyweds.

Sanga and Mhango, Young Life directors in Lilongwe and Blantyre, respectively, were both 28 and are survived by wives Mphatso Sanga and Chimwemwe Mhango.

Sanga will be laid to rest at Nkando, Mulanje on Thursday while Mhango will be laid to rest on Friday in Karonga.

A church service was also held for the two at Blantyre Baptist Church on Wednesday.
