Blantyre North East, Karonga South excel in JBF tourney

Blantyre North East (BNE) on Monday excelled over Chikwawa Central in both football and netball in the K100 million Joyce Banda Foundation (JBF) Inter-Constituency tournament at Chikhwawa Community Centre Ground.

In football, the two teams were tied 2-all at the end of regulation time, but BNE won 7-6 on post-match penalties whereas in netball, BNE emerged 50-25 winners.

According to tournament coordinator Wyson Sumaili, in the North, Karonga South beat Rumphi West 5-4 in post-match penalties after tying 1-all in regulation time while in netball, Karonga North saw-off Rumphi Central 47-7on Tuesday. The games were played at Chiweta in Rumphi District.

And yesterday, Nkhata Bay Central were taking on Mzimba North in both football and netball in Mzuzu.

The tournament’s assistant coordinator Robert Munthali said in other games [Eastern Region] Zomba Malosa will take on Machinga Central tomorrow whereas Mangochi Central are slated to face Balaka South on Friday and the winners will meet at the weekend.
